Donnie Wahlberg Reflects on His Iconic ‘Blue Bloods’ Role After the Finale!

During the interview, Wahlberg touched on his role in Blue Bloods, but he first addressed his “bad boy” reputation from his time with the boy band New Kids On The Block, reminiscing about seeing footage of himself as a teenager with a rebellious attitude and a fake accent. The actor also spoke about his brother, Mark Wahlberg, and how they have always been each other’s biggest supporters.

The conversation then shifted to Blue Bloods, and Wahlberg shared how he landed the role of Danny Reagan:

β€œI vividly remember telling my agents, β€˜I really want to do a TV series where I get the best role on television. Not much to ask for. It should feature an established star, who can be the major draw, and I can handle all the heavy lifting, running through walls and all that.’ And literally, within weeks… the Blue Bloods script landed in my hands. I read it and asked, β€˜Who’s playing the dad?’ When they told me it was Tom Selleck, I couldn’t believe it.’”
