The final season of Blue Bloods is currently airing its last eight episodes on CBS on Friday nights, marking the end of a 14-season journey. Tom Selleck, the show’s iconic star, was left shocked and devastated when CBS announced the cancellation of Blue Bloods last year. Even as recently as last month, Selleck expressed his frustrations with the network’s decision to end the beloved police procedural.
However, Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, has a different perspective on the showโs conclusion. Unlike Selleck, Donnie is โnot sadโ about Blue Bloods coming to an end. Instead, heโs embracing the experience with gratitude.
Donnie Is โJust Incredibly Gratefulโ
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Donnie, 55, shared that he feels โjust incredibly gratefulโ for the opportunity to be part of Blue Bloods since 2010. While many fans are still processing the showโs conclusion, Donnie is focusing on the positive aspects of the journey.
Heโs especially excited about appearing on the cover of the latest edition of TV Guide Magazine, alongside Tom Selleck and their Blue Bloods co-stars. Reflecting on his career, Donnie explained, โThere are moments in life when something happens that just kind of puts your life into perspective, not just your work or your career.โ
The cover of TV Guide, he shared, has special meaning for him. As a child, he would go grocery shopping with his mom and see the magazine at the checkout counter, but they couldnโt afford it. Now, years later, Donnie is not only able to afford the magazine but is also featured on its cover.
โItโs something I worked on. Iโm next to the guy from Magnum P.I., who I grew up watching,โ he said, reflecting on the honor of being featured alongside Tom Selleck, a childhood hero.
Gratitude Over Sadness
Rather than feeling sadness about the show ending, Donnie is choosing to focus on gratitude. Heโs thankful for the incredible journey and the opportunity to share these moments with fans and colleagues. As Blue Bloods wraps up its final episodes, Donnieโs positive outlook serves as a reminder of the impact the show has had on its cast and viewers alike.
