Allergic Reaction to Artificial Sweeteners
Iβm allergic to artificial sweeteners and learned this the hard way. My sister-in-law, who is diabetic, made a dessert using artificial sweetener, and after having a piece, I suffered for hours. Your information was really helpful, so thank you!
Insect Bites and Benadryl Relief
I’ve been getting bitten by insects since I was a little girl, and it’s not unusual for me to wake up with my lips swollen. Typically, the bites happen on the outside of my lips, but a few nights ago, it happened on the inside of my mouth, which was strange. I think I need to learn to sleep with my mouth closed! Either way, Benadryl definitely works for me. Interestingly, though, the back of the Benadryl box doesnβt mention it as a treatment for insect bites. Iβm guessing generic versions of Benadryl would probably help with insect bites too.
Tingling, Itching, and Swelling Around the Mouth
What could be causing tingling and itching around my mouth without cold sores? Iβve never had cold sores, but Iβve been experiencing a lot of itching, occasional swelling, and tingly sensations around my lips and mouth, sometimes extending to my chin. Anyone else experience this?
Food Allergies and Lip Swelling
Thank you for the helpful video! I had some hard bumps develop on my body, and my lips swelled. After taking a blood test for food allergies, I found out Iβm allergic to shrimp and sesame seeds. However, my lip is swollen again, but I havenβt had any issues with my tongue or swallowing. Iβm going to take an allergy test soon, likely a skin test, and I hope it helps clarify whatβs going on. How can I know if a food Iβm not allergic to is still the cause of these reactions? Will the skin test be more accurate?
Unexpected Lip Swelling After Eating Fish
Yesterday, I woke up with swelling in my upper lip. Within the hour, I felt twitching in my cheek and a little in my eye. It went away within an hour. Later, I had fish for lunch, and immediately my lip swelled, and I felt tightness in my throat and chest. I went to the doctor, and they gave me antihistamines and cortisone. Iβm feeling better now, but throughout the day, Iβve still felt some tension in my arms and tightness in my throat. Iβm supposed to take medication for three days. Iβve never had allergies before, and it was very scary, but I hope itβs just an allergy I need to figure out.
Random Lip Swelling with No Known Triggers
I donβt think I have any of the issues mentioned, but my lip randomly swelled up twiceβonce on Wednesday at 11 p.m. and again today (Friday) at the same time. Iβve been writing it down so if it doesnβt calm down, I can go to the doctor. I should mention Iβve been smoking on and off for about seven years. Iβm not allergic to anything, and I havenβt eaten or been bitten by anything around the time of swelling. I donβt think itβs herpes unless it can remain dormant for months or years. Itβs so random, and I donβt know what to do.
Palm Itching and Lip Swelling After Drinking Mocha Frappe
My palm started itching, and then I felt a tingling, itching, and burning sensation in my lip. After about 20 minutes, my lip swelled. This all happened about an hour after drinking a mocha frappe. Iβve had these before, but I havenβt had one in a while. Now Iβm just putting a cold, wet washcloth on my lip, but itβs been an hour and a half, and the swelling still hasnβt gone down.
