Tom Selleck is approaching a major milestoneβhis 80th birthdayβjust as Blue Bloods wraps up after nearly 15 seasons. In a recent interview, the famously private actor opened up about how he plans to mark the occasion and reflected on the showβs impact on his life.
Though he downplays birthdays these days, Selleck hinted at a simple, family-centered celebration. βIβll probably have dinner with my brother, sister, and Jillie,β he said, referring to his wife, actress Jillie Mack. βI wonβt make a big deal of it.β
That understated approach echoes the cherished family dinners on Blue Bloods, a defining element of the show. Off screen, Selleck values similar traditions at his 65-acre California ranch, where he lives with Jillie and their daughter, professional equestrian Hannah Selleck. Christmas holds special meaning for the family, though gathering everyone at their historic 1910 hunting lodge has become more difficult as the family grows.
As Blue Bloods ends, Selleck expressed his deep connection to the cast and crew, whom he considers extended family. When asked if he took any keepsakes from set, he revealed he still has Frank Reaganβs engraved Rolex and Marine Corps ring. βI couldnβt bring his desk with me, but that wouldβve been neat,β he joked.
