He went on to explain that the final moments were crafted to spark the audienceโs imagination โ to let them envision what comes next for the Reagans even if they wonโt see it play out on screen.
โThe last five minutes are an invitation to imagine the show after the show is over.โ
The finale delivered just that โ an emotional farewell with a touching funeral and one final family dinner, staying true to the showโs roots.

A New Chapter: Boston Blue
Though Blue Bloods has ended, the story isn’t entirely over. Donnie Wahlberg will reprise his role as Danny Reagan in an upcoming spinoff titled Boston Blue, set to premiere on CBS in fall 2025. The new series will follow Danny as he transfers to the Boston Police Department, opening a new chapter in his life and career.
โWe tried so hard to keep Blue Bloods on the air,โ Donnie said. โWorking with the cast and crew in New York was one of the great thrills of my life. When CBS asked if Iโd continue Dannyโs story, I said, โThat sounds interesting.โโ
Fans may have said goodbye to the Reagan family dinners, but with Boston Blue on the horizon, thereโs still more of Danny Reaganโs journey to come.
