CBS is known for its long-running hits like NCIS and Survivor, but the network shocked fans with a wave of cancellations over the past couple of years. One of the biggest blows in 2024 was the end of Blue Bloods, officially canceled in 2023. However, hope quickly returned when a Donnie Wahlberg-led spinoff was announced.
Though details about the new Boston-based series—possibly titled Boston Blue—have been scarce, Wahlberg recently gave fans something to be excited about. In an interview with Fox News, he opened up about how deeply connected he felt to the cast, crew, and fans, all of whom played a major role in his decision to continue the Blue Bloods legacy.
While Wahlberg didn’t specifically mention the iconic Reagan family dinners, his comments suggest they could live on in the spinoff. Known for going above and beyond for his fans—especially New Kids on the Block loyalists—Wahlberg is clearly aware of what audiences want. And he knows Danny Reagan won’t be the only familiar face fans are hoping to see around the dinner table when Boston Blue hits screens in fall 2025.
