Nathaniel βNateβ Pelletier of When Calls the Heart Dies Unexpectedly at 53
Nathaniel βNateβ Pelletier, known for his work both onscreen and behind the scenes on the Hallmark Channelβs beloved series When Calls the Heart, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53. According to his obituary, Pelletier died βsuddenly at homeβ in Langley, British Columbia, on April 11. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Pelletier was a familiar face to fans of the series, appearing in a recurring role as a taxi driver. He also contributed to the production through his work in the transportation department.
Actor Martin Cummins, who plays Henry Gowen on the show, shared a touching tribute on Instagram, calling Pelletier βa gentle soulβ and a cherished friend. βThe Valley will not be the same without Nathaniel Pelletier,β Cummins wrote.
The official When Calls the Heart Instagram account also honored Pelletierβs memory, describing him as a beloved member of the team and a fan favorite during Hearties Family Reunions. βHe brought so much joy to the dayβ¦ He will be missed greatly,β the post read.
Pelletier is survived by his daughter, as well as his parents and brothers.
His death comes nearly a year after another heartbreaking incident connected to the show. In May 2024, actress Mamie Laverock, who portrayed Rosaleen Sullivan, survived a devastating five-story fall from a hospital balcony. Following multiple surgeries and a long stint on life support, Laverock made a remarkable recovery and was released from the hospital in August.
The When Calls the Heart community continues to mourn and honor those whoβve left lasting impressions both on and off the screen.
