βBlue Bloodsβ Officially Ending After Season 14 β CBS Confirms Final Chapter
Itβs the end of an era. Blue Bloods, the long-running CBS police drama thatβs followed the Reagan family since 2010, will officially conclude with Season 14. For fans whoβve been invested in the showβs mix of crime, justice, and family dinners, the news is both heartbreaking and bittersweet.
Despite its consistent ratings success on both CBS and Paramount+, the decision to end Blue Bloods reportedly comes down to budget concerns. Earlier this year, CBS expressed interest in continuing the series β but only if significant cost reductions were made. As a result, salary cuts of up to 25% were implemented for key cast members and producers to keep the show alive for one final season.
According to Deadline, the call to make Season 14 the final one came shortly after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike in November. CBS is also bringing other major shows to a close, including Young Sheldon, the beloved Big Bang Theory prequel.
While fans are understandably disappointed, many are grateful that the show will receive a proper send-off β a luxury not often afforded to long-running series today.
In response to the announcement, series star Tom Selleck shared a heartfelt statement, expressing his gratitude for the cast, crew, and viewers:
βWorking with these wonderful actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true,β Selleck said. βIβm honored to have been part of this extraordinary ensemble for over 275 episodes.β
Though Blue Bloods is set to end, its legacy will live on β in reruns, streaming, and in the hearts of fans whoβve stood by the Reagan family for nearly a decade and a half.
