Actress and singer Simona Milinyte recently opened up about a βhorrificβ car accident in November that left her in significant pain and has impacted her daily life.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Milinyte shared details of the accident, which occurred while she was driving home from a music studio.
βA guy in a massive SUV just smashed straight into the back of my car. It was a rear-end collisionβthe impact was truly severe,β she said. βI hit my forehead on the steering wheel, and the seatbelt crushed my left shoulder.β
Milinyte revealed that she suffered bruises on her forehead, shoulder, and abdomen, but the real pain began a few days later, once the initial shock wore off.
βI noticed my whole abdomen on the right side was extremely bruised, and the pain started to intensify around the area where the seatbelt lock was,β she recalled.
As the pain worsened, Milinyte went to the emergency room, where doctors conducted multiple tests, including chest X-rays.
βThe strangest part was that they kept focusing on my chest with X-rays and other tests, even though I told them my shoulder, neck, and abdomen hurt,β she explained.
A CT scan ultimately revealed that Milinyte had unknowingly suffered a collapsed lung, a serious injury that prompted her to seek legal action. She noted that her injuries have also affected her music career.
βThe guy who hit me said he βjust glanced down for a secondβ before crashing into me,β she said, adding a warning: βAll I can say to him is keep your eyes on the road because your actions can cause a lot of pain for others.β
Milinyte admitted that the incident has left her shaken, saying, βHonestly, Iβm still pretty terrified to drive. I start shaking every time I get behind the wheel. I just hope I donβt develop PTSD.β
The actress, known for her appearance in a 2019 episode of NCIS: Los Angeles and roles in projects like Black Monday and Merry Happy Whatever, recently expressed gratitude to her doctor and legal team on social media.
βI couldnβt be more blessed to have the most incredible team and people around me,β she wrote.
Despite the challenges, Milinyte is working toward recovery and hopes to move forward both personally and professionally.
