‘Boston Blue’ Bombshell Sonequa Martin-Green Joins Donnie Wahlberg in Explosive Spinoff!

Sonequa Martin-Green Joins Donnie Wahlberg in ‘Boston Blue,’ the Blue Bloods Spinoff Coming This Fall

Star Trek: Discovery star Sonequa Martin-Green is teaming up with Donnie Wahlberg for Boston Blue, CBS’s upcoming spinoff of its hit crime drama Blue Bloods. Set to premiere this fall, the series will follow Detective Danny Reagan (Wahlberg) as he relocates from New York to Boston, stepping away from his iconic family to take on a new role with the Boston Police Department.

Martin-Green plays Detective Lena Silver, Danny’s new partner and the eldest daughter of a powerful law enforcement family. “We love the Reagans, and now you’re going to love the Silvers too,” Martin-Green said at a CBS press event, adding that she’s excited to step into the world of Blue Bloods and may even try out a Boston accent from time to time.

Wahlberg, who spent over a decade on Blue Bloods, called the spinoff an opportunity to “move the tradition forward” while expanding the universe. “We’re working in a way that longtime viewers will love, and we’re inviting in a whole new audience too.”

Fans can also expect familiar faces from the original series to appear. “There’ll be connective tissue to the old family,” Wahlberg teased. “But we’re also discovering a new one and continuing to tell both of their stories.”

While Blue Bloods officially ended its run, many in the original cast—including Tom Selleck—expressed interest in continuing. “Everybody wanted to come back,” Selleck said recently. “It would’ve been a gift for the audience.” Though no official return has been confirmed, don’t be surprised if Frank Reagan makes a surprise appearance in Boston Blue.
