Steve Schirripa Revisits ‘The Sopranos’ in Hilarious New Commercial
Steve Schirripa, best known for his iconic role as Bobby “Baccala” Baccalieri on The Sopranos, is back in Sopranos mode for a hilarious new commercial. The actor, 67, stars in a FreshPet ad that brings a comedic twist to his mobster days, paying homage to his time on the hit HBO drama.
In the ad, debuting on Christmas Day during Netflixโs NFL games, Schirripa plays cards with friends in a setting reminiscent of the interior of Satriale’s Pork Store. The scene takes a funny turn when someone finds FreshPet tucked away in the fridge and protests. Schirripa, ever the proud “mobster,” defends the quality of the food for his dachshund, Willie, whom he affectionately calls “boy Junior.”
Of course, one mobster in the group isn’t on board with Schirripaโs endorsement of FreshPet. In true Sopranos fashion, the situation is swiftly handledโby putting the dissenter in the trunk of a car. Fans of The Sopranos will immediately recognize the familiar nod to the showโs signature style.
Schirripa tells PEOPLE that his real-life dachshund, Willie, inspired the ad. โI have a dog, Willie Boy, whoโs been eating FreshPet for the last couple of years,โ he shares. โWhen I got the script, I thought it was fun to slip back into that old Sopranos mode after playing Detective Anthony Abetemarco on Blue Bloods for the last nine seasons.โ
The commercial, which Schirripa describes as โsmart, clever, and really funny,โ also features Robert Costanzo (Saturday Night Fever) and Johnny Williams (Goodfellas), adding even more star power to the already entertaining ad.
Stay tuned for the release of this unforgettable FreshPet ad, and donโt miss Schirripaโs return to the world of mobstersโthis time with a side of humor and plenty of pet love!
