Tom Selleck Brings His Real-Life Family to PaleyFest and Reflects on the End of Blue Bloods

Tom Selleck, a cherished family man both on and off-screen, rarely steps into the spotlight with his real-life loved ones. However, the 79-year-old actor made a notable exception this October, sharing a rare moment with his family while celebrating his Blue Bloods castmates.

On Thursday, October 17, Tom joined the Blue Bloods cast at PaleyFest 2024, an annual festival honoring television’s most iconic shows and stars. The event, held at The Paley Museum in New York City, saw Tom posing alongside his on-screen family, including Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Marisa Ramirez, Vanessa Ray, and Len Cariou. Yet, it was his red-carpet appearance with his wife, Jillie Mack, and daughter, Hannah Selleck, that gave fans a heartwarming glimpse into his personal life.

Tom’s refreshed look also caught attention. With Blue Bloods having wrapped filming, he bid farewell to his trademark clean-cut mustache, opting instead for a gray beard and longer hairstyle.

While Tom appeared upbeat at the event—which included a preview of Blue Bloods’ final episodes and a cast panel—he admitted feeling conflicted about the series’ end. As New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, Tom became the cornerstone of Friday night television for over a decade.

“I’m kind of frustrated,” Tom shared in an interview with TV Insider. “During those last eight shows, I didn’t want to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods, but rather about it still being wildly successful. In the Top 100 Shows of 2023–2024, we were number nine overall and number six if you exclude football.

“If you were to tell a network, ‘Here’s a show you can put in your worst time slot, and it will guarantee winning Friday night for 15 years,’ they’d think you were crazy. My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed so well from the start. How do I feel? It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out.”
