The cast of Blue Bloods is celebrating Tom Selleck’s 80th birthday with heartfelt tributes on social media.
Bridget Moynahan, who portrayed Tom’s onscreen daughter Erin Reagan for 14 seasons, shared a touching message on Instagram on January 29: “Missing this guy so much. Wishing him the happiest of birthdays! #80.”
Donnie Wahlberg, who played Danny Reagan, posted a sweet tribute on his Instagram Stories, writing, “Happy birthday Tom a.k.a. Dad,” alongside a photo of the pair with a series of emojis.
Abigail Hawk, who often starred alongside Tom, shared a post saying, “Happy birthday, boss! Sure do miss being your Gal Friday! #80 #bluebloods #frankandbaker” on her Instagram.
Fans of the show, which aired its series finale on December 13, 2024, also showed their love for Tom in the comments.
“Wow. 80 is the new 60. Miss your show so much,” one fan wrote under Bridget’s birthday tribute.
Another shared, “Just love him!! Happy birthday Tom! Magnum P.I. is still a fav!!!”
Jack Carr also paid tribute to Tom on X, reminiscing about his role as Thomas Sullivan Magnum on Magnum, P.I.: “Happy Birthday to Tom Selleck who played Thomas Sullivan Magnum on Magnum, P.I. from 1980 – 1988. One fan responded, “Too many great episodes to recount – such a great show,” while another added, “Home from the Sea, is exceptional and pretty daring for a show like Magnum P.I. I think that was the episode that won Tom Selleck an Emmy. The script for this episode was so intense that Tom opted to film it in the deep ocean with safety divers rather than a studio water tank.”
As for how Tom spent his special day, an insider revealed to Closer that he celebrated with his family.
“He’s seen and lived through a lot, and he feels rather fortunate to be here to talk about it,” the source shared. “Sure, he wasn’t happy with Blue Bloods getting canceled, but he wants to focus on the positive and ring in 80 with smiles and laughter, not dwell on the negative.”
The insider went on to share that Tom’s wife, Jillie Mack, and daughter, Hannah Selleck, planned a casual celebration at the family farm, where they would toast to his health—and maybe even roast him a little bit in good fun. Donnie and Bridget were expected to be among the guests, as Tom considers his Blue Bloods costars family.
“His wife and daughter are planning a big celebration at the farm with friends to celebrate Tom,” the insider explained. “No doubt, some people from the show will be invited, like Donnie and Bridget, which Tom will like very much.”
Today, Tom enjoys life on his California ranch, focusing on his health and future projects.
“He’s had some mobility issues, as everyone knows, but he’s working really hard to tackle that,” a friend of Tom shared with Closer. “Tom likes to walk around his ranch, which is why getting his knees back in shape is so important to him.”
