Blue Bloods Star Reveals Cast Did Everything to Save the Show!

Donnie Wahlberg recently opened up about the emotional toll of Blue Bloods ending, sharing that he and his castmates did everything they could to keep the beloved show on the air. In an interview with Fox News, Wahlberg expressed his sadness over the cancellation, particularly for the crew who had worked alongside the cast in New York City for so many years.

“We did everything we could to keep the show going,” Wahlberg said. “It was tough for me, and I’m sure for some of the others too. We kept hoping that we could make it happen, but we couldn’t. That was a hard reality to accept.”

Wahlberg admitted that he felt like he had let the crew down, even though he knew they would never feel that way. He continued, “We got so close to that crew, and they had families and responsibilities. It was an amazing feeling to know we were part of so many people’s livelihoods, and to have that come to an end was difficult. It was emotional, and I’m sure it was scary for them too.”

Wahlberg wasn’t alone in his disappointment over the show’s cancellation. Tom Selleck, who played Frank Reagan on the series, has also expressed frustration with the decision. In an interview with CBS News, Selleck pointed out the show’s success, saying, “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. The cast wants to come back, and I can tell you, we’re not slipping. We’re doing good shows and holding our place.”

Selleck further emphasized the importance of the cast’s connection with the audience, telling Town & Country, “Actors are not widgets. People matter. Audiences tune in to see the people they become invested in, and I don’t think that’s ever going to change. But the state of television is concerning.”

The show’s finale, which aired on December 13, was met with impressive viewership, earning 6.68 million live+same-day viewers and potentially surpassing 11.4 million viewers within its first week. The numbers reflected a strong and loyal audience, with the finale seeing a 15% increase in live+same-day averages compared to the rest of the season. Despite the solid ratings, Blue Bloods was canceled, leaving its cast and crew to come to terms with the end of an era.

  • Tom Selleck’s New Jesse Stone Movie Is Perfect for Donnie Wahlberg After Blue Bloods!

Tom Selleck’s New Jesse Stone Movie Is Perfect for Donnie Wahlberg After Blue Bloods!

With Blue Bloods officially wrapped, Tom Selleck may be returning to his beloved role as Jesse Stone, and there’s a perfect role for co-star Donnie Wahlberg to join him. Before Blue Bloods came along, Selleck was already well-known for co-writing and starring in the Jesse Stone movies, a series of noir-style mysteries. However, his commitments to the CBS police drama kept him from reprising his role as the troubled Paradise police chief in recent years. Now that Blue Bloods has ended, there’s buzz around the possibility of Jesse Stone 10, and Selleck has expressed interest in returning to the role, though he’s uncertain about his next move.

It’s been nearly a decade since Selleck last portrayed Jesse Stone, and much has likely changed in the character’s life. To reinvigorate the next chapter, it would be wise to bring in some familiar faces from Blue Bloods to boost the film’s appeal. Donnie Wahlberg, in particular, would be an excellent addition to the ensemble.

In Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, fans saw the absence of Captain Healy, portrayed by Stephen McHattie, who had been a close ally of Jesse Stone. With McHattie now in his late 70s and likely retired from the role of Captain, the next film could introduce a younger, more aggressive character to fill Healy’s shoes. Wahlberg would be a great fit for this dynamic, bringing a fresh energy to the Jesse Stone series while reconnecting with Blue Bloods fans who have followed him as Detective Danny Reagan for years.

Tom Selleck Celebrates Big News with Family After Blue Bloods Ends!

Tom Selleck’s long-running journey with Blue Bloods came to a close on December 13 with the airing of the season finale, “End of Tour.” After 14 years and 14 seasons, the CBS crime procedural, which also starred Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Len Cariou, Will Estes, and others, became a staple in the network’s lineup, delivering strong ratings and a dedicated fan base.

In the wake of the show’s finale, Selleck is settling back into his life with his family, including his wife, Jillie Mack, and their daughter, Hannah Selleck. Just days after the series concluded, the family came together to celebrate Hannah’s 36th birthday on December 16. While Hannah, a professional show jumper and champion equestrian, kept her celebrations private, it’s likely she enjoyed a quiet celebration with her parents at their sprawling 65-acre ranch in California.

The Sellecks’ ranch, which is known for its avocado harvest, serves as a peaceful retreat from their busy work schedules. While Tom filmed Blue Bloods primarily in New York, the family’s ranch has become a sanctuary for them, especially for Hannah, whose equestrian tournaments keep her close to home. Tom has shared that, although they harvest avocados each year, he’s not particularly fond of the fruit. In a humorous moment, he recalled a time when David Letterman made him eat an avocado, which he described as a gag-worthy experience. “I’m not much of a vegetable guy,” he admitted. “I was a very fussy eater as a kid.”

As the holidays approach, Tom explained that the essence of a Selleck Christmas is family togetherness. Despite his simple, childhood diet, he values the closeness that family time brings during the festive season.

  • Blue Bloods Cast Reacts as CBS Series Ends Forever!

Blue Bloods Cast Reacts as CBS Series Ends Forever!

The cast of Blue Bloods has bid farewell to the show, which concluded for good after 14 years on Friday, December 13. Despite the show’s cancellation by CBS, which came as a shock to many, the cast, including Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynihan, and Tom Selleck, expressed their disappointment and sadness at the decision.

The cancellation news may not have been entirely unexpected, as the cast and producers had agreed to a 25 percent pay cut in exchange for the show’s latest season. However, Moynihan, who played ADA Erin Reagan, revealed the team’s emotional response, saying, “Everybody was really upset and sad” upon hearing the news. After the finale aired, the cast took to social media to pay tribute to the show.

Moynihan shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Wish I could post a photo of every one of the cast and crew who has helped make @BlueBloods_CBS what it is. It took a village and I love that village! See y’all at 11pm with a few tears in our eyes!”

Donnie Wahlberg, who portrayed Detective 1st Grade Daniel “Danny” Reagan, added, “Thank you for all the love – through all the years! All 14 of them to be exact. We are on to whatever comes next, and whatever that is, we do it together, again! As always! Thank you Blockheads!”

Vanessa Ray, who played Officer Edit “Eddie” Janko, reflected on the bond she formed with her co-stars, saying on Instagram, “On the eve of our last episode, I’m thinking about my partners. We used to laugh about the number of times we were scripted to say ‘I need a partner I can trust…’ I assure you I trust Will, Yasha, Lauren, and Ian with my life. My confidants, my pastors, my mirrors, my guides, my friends. This is a bond that will last forever. Thank you. I love you. Always.”

Marisa Ramirez, who portrayed Detective 1st Grade Maria Baez, shared her gratitude for being part of the show, saying, “The final #bluebloods Friday. Such an honor and a privilege to be a part of this miracle. Thank you to all of the amazing fans that made this show the success that it has been. I tried many times to make a short video thanking you all but the tears wouldn’t stop. Thank you to the best cast and crew in the world for filling my heart with so much love, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime. You are all so wildly talented and I wish you all nothing but continued success and joy. I can’t wait to be back on the East coast with you all someday working on the next miracle that we will make happen. So blessed to be able to call you all my Blue Bloods family.”

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach acknowledged the impact of the show, saying, “We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show. We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give the show the send-off it deserves. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule.”

Blue Bloods, which premiered in 2010, followed the Reagan family in New York law enforcement, led by Frank Reagan (Selleck), the fictional NYPD commissioner. The show focused on Frank’s children, all of whom worked within the law enforcement system, highlighting their personal and professional lives.

When news of the cancellation broke, Selleck expressed his gratitude, saying, “For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City but also displayed the importance of family. Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true, and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes. Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

  • Peter King Shares Heartfelt Goodbye to Blue Bloods — Fans Will Miss It!

Peter King Shares Heartfelt Goodbye to Blue Bloods — Fans Will Miss It!

A television era has come to an end. Last Friday’s Blue Bloods episode marked the final one, as CBS has canceled the show despite its consistently strong ratings. In my opinion, it was one of the best series on television during its 14-season run. As a lifelong New Yorker, I appreciated the stellar performances from a cast led by Tom Selleck and the show’s unwavering support for the police, as well as its advocacy for traditional family values.

Blue Bloods centered on the Reagan family, a multi-generational line of law enforcement officers in New York City. Frank Reagan, portrayed by Selleck, served as the NYPD commissioner, following in the footsteps of his father, Henry, also a former commissioner. Frank’s children, Danny (a detective), Jamie (a sergeant), and Erin (a prosecutor), as well as Jamie’s wife, Eddie Janko, were all involved in the NYPD. A tragic chapter in the family’s story was the death of Frank’s older son, Joe, who was killed in the line of duty. Recently, Joe Hill, Joe’s son, emerged as a new member of the NYPD, using his mother’s surname.

While Blue Bloods certainly focused on solving crimes, it also explored the personal side of law enforcement, showing how the often difficult realities of police work affected the Reagan family. Unlike many other crime dramas, the show never bowed to political or corporate pressures to portray cops negatively, even during the height of the “Defund the Police” movement in 2020.

But Blue Bloods wasn’t about portraying cops as perfect. It showed them as human beings who face dangerous situations daily, willing to risk their lives for others, often making difficult decisions and dealing with the aftermath — including being second-guessed by critics who have never had to confront violent criminals.

As a recent Newsday article pointed out, Blue Bloods had a particularly strong following on Long Island, where many police officers and their families live, as well as commuters who travel to the city for work.

I admit to having a personal bias. My father served in the NYPD for over 30 years before retiring as a lieutenant. I also have many friends who work or have worked in the NYPD and other police departments. It was a privilege to closely observe police work during my time on the House Homeland Security Committee.

I had the chance to meet the Blue Bloods cast during visits to their Brooklyn studio and shooting locations on Long Island. All of them were exceptional people, especially Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg (Danny), and Will Estes (Jamie). Steve Schirripa, who played Anthony Abetemarco, was also a standout — just as genuine as the character he portrayed.

I’m not one to be starstruck. Having met many public figures, I can say with certainty that the Blue Bloods cast was the real deal.

The big question remains: Why did CBS cancel a show with such loyal viewership and strong ratings? Was it because Blue Bloods resisted corporate pressure to be more progressive or “woke”? Were its traditional values, such as support for law enforcement, family, and patriotism, too out of step for some of its advertisers?

Regardless of the reasons, Blue Bloods fans will always have the memories of the Reagan family and their iconic Sunday dinners.

  • Blue Bloods Isn’t New Tonight — And Worse News Is Coming!

Blue Bloods Isn’t New Tonight — And Worse News Is Coming!

It’s Friday night, the time when we usually sit down for dinner with the Reagan family on Blue Bloods. However, this evening brings some disappointing news for fans.

First off, there’s no new episode tonight. Last week’s episode marked the final one for the season. As is typical, Blue Bloods goes on a break over the holiday season, with new episodes often returning in January. But here’s where things take a turn for the worse.

Sadly, CBS has confirmed that Blue Bloods has come to an end. The previous episode wasn’t just a midseason finale; it was the series finale. The show won’t be returning. While many of us hoped for a last-minute change of heart from CBS, it’s clear that Blue Bloods has wrapped up for good. The ending was emotional and intense, with the writers clearly knowing how much the show meant to us. For some, the finale worked, bringing closure to the Reagans’ story, but it’s still a hard pill to swallow.

Despite the show still performing well in the ratings and the main cast expressing their desire to continue, Blue Bloods has said goodbye. Fans were hoping for the milestone of 15 seasons, but it seems we’ll have to accept that the story is over.

There have been talks of a Blue Bloods spin-off, though no concrete details have emerged. CBS is reportedly considering it, which offers a glimmer of hope for those who want to see more of the Reagan family. While we know that Frank and Danny won’t be the focus of a potential spin-off, there’s a chance we could see some of the younger members of the family take the spotlight.

For now, we’ll hold on to the hope of a spin-off and continue to cherish the episodes we have. Blue Bloods is available for streaming on Paramount+ for those who want to relive the Reagans’ journey.

  • NCIS: Origins Fans Won’t Believe the Shocking Mike Franks Twist!

NCIS: Origins Fans Won’t Believe the Shocking Mike Franks Twist!

Fans of NCIS: Origins are in for an exciting treat as the show teases more screen time for Mike Franks, with some intriguing developments coming in the second half of the season. The series is currently on a break until January, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the prequel.

Executive producer and co-showrunner David J. North recently teased big things ahead for the beloved character. “We’re moving on to other characters,” North shared. “In the second half of the season, we’re about to learn a whole lot more about how Mike Franks became Mike Franks.” Kyle Schmid portrays the younger Franks in the spinoff, while Muse Watson plays the older Franks in the main NCIS series.

Franks, known for mentoring many NCIS agents, including Leroy Jethro Gibbs, has had his backstory largely unexplored until now. North promised that upcoming episodes would be a revelation. “We’re really excited about it because the audience isn’t going to believe where we take this. As much as we think we know about Franks, we stay true to that, but we’re really coloring in how Franks became Franks,” he told Cinema Blend.

Fans are speculating that the show will dive deeper into Franks’ history, particularly his time with the Naval Investigative Service (NIS) after his service in the United States Marine Corps. Additionally, North hinted that more details about Franks’ romantic life would be revealed.

In NCIS: Origins, set in 1991, Mike is shown to have a complex relationship with Tish Kwa’la, portrayed by Tonantzin Carmelo. The episode “One Flew Over” revealed that Tish had previously been sexually assaulted in a car park, and Mike became determined to find the assailant. However, Tish’s emotional plea for him to stop led him to reconsider.

North teased that upcoming episodes would explore further challenges that could affect Mike’s commitment to his vow to Tish. “This season coming up, we’re going to delve much further into their relationship, and Franks is going to deal with some things personally that really affect him,” he revealed. “When she asked him to give up looking for the man that assaulted her, that’s not an easy thing for Franks to do, and maybe something he just can’t do.”

With NCIS: Origins set to return on January 27, fans don’t have to wait long to see how these dramatic storylines unfold.

  • NCIS: Origins Showrunner Reveals If Season 2 Is Happening!

NCIS: Origins Showrunner Reveals If Season 2 Is Happening!

It looks like NCIS: Origins might be gearing up for a second season.

So far, the prequel series has been a hit with NCIS fans, offering a fresh perspective on Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early career. By exploring Gibbs’ beginnings with the Naval Investigative Service (NIS), the show adds context to the character before he became the iconic leader of the NCIS team fans know today.

Amid the competition from other crime dramas, NCIS: Origins has been steadily climbing the charts on Paramount+’s Top 10, further solidifying its popularity with viewers.

While the fate of a second season remains uncertain, showrunner David J. North recently teased its possibility. In an interview with TVLine, he shared that while there has been no official confirmation from CBS or Paramount+, both networks seem invested in the series.

“We’re really proud of what we’re making, and the goal is always to get as many eyes on it as possible,” North explained. “I know that we’re doing well on Paramount+; after we air, we’re always in the Top 10 the following day. CBS and Paramount are in it for the long haul, so we just try to keep our heads down and write as good of material as possible. And this cast, they’re fantastic, they really are. I think we have something special here, and I hope everybody comes on board.”

One of the show’s key advantages is its position as a prequel, which gives it a unique edge within the NCIS universe. By providing backstory for beloved characters, NCIS: Origins offers something fresh compared to other fan-favorite spinoffs like NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaii, as well as the original NCIS, which has been a staple since 2003.

With NCIS: Origins continuing to land in the Top 10 on Paramount+, it’s clear that the show’s storylines are resonating with viewers. While a second season hasn’t been officially confirmed, the high ratings and continued popularity suggest that it’s a strong possibility if the momentum holds.
