In a recent exclusive interview with PopCulture.com, Blue Bloods star Steve Schirripa opened up about his admiration for co-star Bridget Moynahan, calling her “very underrated” and praising her talent both in front of and behind the camera.
Schirripa, who plays Detective Anthony Abetemarco, often shares scenes with Moynahan’s character, Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan. He credited her professionalism and deep understanding of the craft, especially applauding her recent work as a director on the show. “She’s always prepared,” Schirripa noted, adding that her level of preparedness helps him focus more fully on his own performance.
Reflecting on the dynamic between their characters, Schirripa described the unique chemistry that has developed over their seven-year on-screen partnership. He sees Anthony as a mentor figure to Erin, and pointed out that their contrasting life experiences bring a rich and authentic layer to their interactions.
Schirripa also discussed how his character stands apart from much of the Reagan family core, often working closely with other recurring characters. While he hasn’t shared many scenes with Tom Selleck’s Commissioner Frank Reagan, he expressed excitement about upcoming moments involving his character and Abigail Baker, played by Abigail Hawk.
Through his thoughtful comments, Schirripa offered a glimpse into the strong camaraderie and mutual respect that drives the Blue Bloods cast—especially highlighting Bridget Moynahan’s invaluable contributions to the show’s enduring success.
